Sunday July 31st 2011: The Bleed Vol.1 Issue.0 is out from September 21st. It features a cover (“The Censor”), a short interview with and article about Bryan. The magazine showcases new and original art created by writers, artists, photographers, poets, journalists, and designers, from the North East and beyond. It is free and will be available at art galleries, cinemas, museums, and music venues, across the North East as well as in the best pubs, bars, and cafes. Say hello to the Bleed on Twitter!

Bryan also sent over a piece he did for the band Greasy Bear, and said: "It was done for the band Greasy Bear a couple of years ago – my first piece of underground artwork for years!"

Announcing the The Stan Lee Excelsior Award
Are you a school librarian? Do you know someone who is? The Stan Lee Excelsior Award is an exciting new book award for graphic novels and manga - where kids aged 11-16 choose the winner by rating each book as they read it. The overall goal of this scheme is to encourage reading amongst teenagers. However, its secondary target is to raise the profile of graphic novels and manga amongst school librarians and teachers. This storytelling medium has been a largely underused resource within education for many years. The Stan Lee Excelsior Award attempts to highlight some of the amazing books that are out there - books that fully deserve to be in our school libraries alongside regular fiction.

The scheme is backed by the Stan Lee Foundation and businesses who sponsor the graphic novels for your library. 18 schools were involved in the event last month and already the list has grown to 25 with many more interested. Become involved! The Stan Lee Excelsior Award
